Forthcoming Exhibition - Vicarious - Queen Victoria Women's Centre
1-31 August 2013

Picture
Very thrilled to say I will be exhibiting my body of work "Vicarious" at the Queen Victoria Women's Centre
230 Latrobe St, Melbourne
1-31 August
Opening night Thursday 8 August 5.30-7.30 pm

About the work -
I have a fascination with modern Burlesque, in part fuelled by an abiding love of the work of Toulouse Lautrec.  In order to explore this intrigue further, I coordinated a series of “Burlesque” life drawing and painting sessions.

My observation was not of a sleazy striptease and Victorian corsetry but of cheeky performances from women completely in command of their own sexuality.

“Vicarous” evolved into an exploration of feminine power underpinned by the influence of modern Burlesque.  This is deeply rooted in the history of feminism and female sexuality.

This body of work is a series of oil paintings and limited edition linocut and drypoint etching prints.

Tales Of Christmas Treasures | Christmas at The Johnston Collection 2013
7 November 2013-26 February 2014

A peek at some of the work (mine!) on show at the Johnston Collection in the "Blue Room". Eagerly looking forward to the opening night, we (Mornington Peninsula Artisans) spent the day at the Johnston Collection on friday talking through our works to the guides before the tours are open to the public. Can't wait to go on a tour myself and view this rather delicious exhibition as a whole.
Very honoured to be asked to participate, and thrilled to see our works in amongst the beautiful treasures in the collection. Happy Dance :-)
