Being a "Visual" artist, my work is for others to interpret what it means for them personally. I have been fortunate to have one of my buyers give me their words that perfectly encapsulate some of my thoughts when creating a body of work. Martha Richards, thank you.
"I was thinking about how when I was younger I never wore a bra, never wore makeup, never shaved my legs. Now, in my 60s, I wear some make-up and I am looking for the perfect shaper. It's all very complicated. I don't want to objectify women and can't deal with how mostly people do, but I still am pulled in the direction on making myself look as cute as possible. I think these are all reasons why I like your print so much. We don't want men telling us that we must look a certain way, and yet there is a pull toward presenting oneself, at least from time to time, in a more perfect version. And historically, women have dealt with this dichotomy for centuries. It's hard to get at through words and that is why art is so powerful. In addition to my response to the subject of your print, I love the black and white and the curve...so great.

Karina making sure the wires are straight! Gotta get those "Liney's" in line!!! I really enjoy the process of preparing for an exhibition, creating the work with an end showing in mind - choosing the work to show, framing it up, labelling it, preparing a statement about the work, updating my bio, creating price lists and tags for the work. Promoting the event. But the most, most exciting part is hanging it all up and standing back to see a whole body of work up in the way I envisioned it looking en masse. As an artist, I think there is nothing more satisfying to see an idea realised in full. And then there is an opening night - such fun to show and tell and share and connect with fellow art lovers. I am so appreciative of the galleries who have chosen to help me realise dream along the way. some of the gorgeous crew who came along to celebrate the opening night Back l-r Pam, Stevie, Hansy, Paulie, Sammi, Gabe Front l-r Heather, Lize Dollcakes, moi and Karina (gallery owner extraordinaire) So here we are, exhibiting my Liney body of work, in a beautiful gallery - AppleStick contemporary art at 3015 Frankston-Flinders Road, Balnarring. I produce my prints now at AppleStick Studio, its a lovely connection and I am very pleased to be showing this work here to a new audience, and on my home territory as well! I am proud of this work and as always, I love the idea of bringing attention to the unseen familiar and just maybe, a little more knowledge to the incredible job my darling does. This particular piece was a finalist in the Silk Cut Linocut award 2011 and now, is a finalist in the Cliftons Art Prize 2012 - http://www.cliftonsartprize.com/2012/Melbourne/23/Linesman-V2-OV?l=f
